We had a Simultaneous Interpretation 101 Workshop!

The Simultaneous Interpreting 101 Workshop, organised by the Translation and Intercultural Interaction Community, was held on 5 December and 10 December 2024 with the participation of our department students and Research Assistant Zeynep Melissa Seyfioğlu. In the first session, Seyfioğlu informed the students on the basic principles of simultaneous interpreting, the history of interpreting, the preparation stages of simultaneous interpreting, the strategies that can be used during interpreting and the strategies that novice interpreters should develop. Then, the students were shown the shadowing technique that is frequently used in interpreting training. The Students were able to try this technique. In the second session, Elif Aslı Kahveci, Rana Aslan, Sozdar Lorin Karabiber, Cemal Efe Turunç and Ekin İbil from our department took part as interpreters in the mock conference. We congratulate our students and wish them continued success in their first steps towards becoming professional interpreters.
