Students in our department are required to undertake an internship as part of the course MUT 4001 Translation Internship.
Here are some frequently asked questions regarding the internship:
When will I undertake the internship?
The internship must be completed during the summer term following the 6th semester or during the mid-term break at the end of the 7th semester.
How long is the internship?
Our students are required to complete an internship lasting 20 (twenty) work days.
Am I required to do an internship?
Yes, students must complete this internship in order to graduate.
Where can I do an internship?
You can find placements in translation agencies, translation and localisation companies, government ministries, the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), public offices, television channels, tourist information offices, hospitals that admit foreign patients, foreign trade offices, and similar workplaces. When looking for a placement, the work you undertake must involve translation tasks under titles such as translator, interpreter, or language specialist.
How does the insurance process work during the internship period?
Social Security contributions(SGK) are paid by the University. As part of this process, the student must complete the internship acceptance form obtained from the department’s internship committee at least one month before starting the internship; this form, once approved by the employer, is submitted to the coordinator. After this stage, the process is followed by the coordinator.
